Report: Eagles host Georgia safety Malaki Starks on Top-30 visit

The Eagles are doing their homework on yet another Bulldog in this year’s NFL Draft.

According to 94WIP’s Eliot Shorr-Parks, Philadelphia hosted Georgia safety Malaki Starks on a Top-30 visit.

Starks is a top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the Eagles have a need at safety after trading C.J. Gardner-Johnson to Houston last month.

Three-year starter with reams of high-leverage games on his résumé. Starks is a versatile safety with the size and athleticism to eliminate contested catches and the speed and ball skills to shine when the action travels deep.

Connection to the route is inconsistent in man and he’s baited out of position by misdirection, but better discipline and anticipation should clean that up. He’s not a true force player near the line and his pursuit angles can be raggedy but he gets guys down when he’s in position.

Starks has feast-or-famine moments on tape and disappointed with his short-area testing at the NFL Scouting Combine. He ran well in Indianapolis, though, and was impressive in interviews with teams. He is a future starter as a movable back-end piece whose consistency will determine his floor/ceiling.

As noted above, the Eagles will likely need to trade up for Starks, who is projected to be a top-20 pick.

Philadelphia already has former Bulldogs Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Nolan Smith, Nakobe Dean, Kelee Ringo, Lewis Cine, and Azeez Ojulari on the roster. Starks could be the final infinity stone for Vic Fangio’s defense.

Starks, a first-team All-American in 2023, recorded 197 total tackles, 17 pass breakups, and six interceptions across his three years at Georgia.
