Eagles select Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord to battle Tanner McKee for QB2
If you’re a fan of a safe and sound quarterback who won’t give you a heart attack every throw, Kyle McCord might not be your guy. But he’s certainly my type of gun slinger. The Syracuse signal caller led the Power Four Conferences in both big-time throws and turnover-worthy plays in 2024.
Eagles add to their QB factory with McCord
A product of Philadelphia high school football, the former Saint Joseph’s Prep athlete won three straight state championships and the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior. Originally planning to spend his collegiate career with high school teammate Marvin Harrison Jr at Ohio State, Kyle McCord sat behind C.J. Stroud before transferring to Syracuse.
Kyle McCord has the non-physical attributes I love in a backup or a quarterback in a training camp battle. His fiery attitude hypes the offense up on big plays, but McCord makes throws that not even Brett Favre could make, resulting in those high turnover numbers. I love the tenacity, but his lack of arm strength, combined with those turnovers, is concerning.
