Spencer Strider plays dumb when asked about hitting Harper, says he’s not a ‘sociopath’
Spencer Strider has been in the Rat Hall of Fame for a few years now, but after what happened last night, he may have earned himself a few more rat points.
During the game between Philly and Atlanta, Strider hit Bryce Harper in the elbow with a pitch. Fortunately, x-rays came back negative, but it was obvious that Harper was in serious pain.
After the game, Strider was, of course, asked about the incident. And naturally, Rat Strider played dumb.
Spencer Strider for Rat of the Year
“Of course, I’m not a complete sociopath,” Strider told reporters. “So, I have some empathy. I do feel bad for him, to see a person in pain that I caused. But, you know, you still got a job to do.”
Right. Like they say, everything before the word but is bullshit. That definitely applies here.
If you have to say, “I’m not a complete sociopath,” you’re probably a sociopath. And if you say you have empathy for someone, only to follow it up with, “But, I have a job to do,” you probably don’t have that much empathy for the guy.
Honestly, I don’t expect anything less from Spencer Strider. He gets roasted every time he plays in Philadelphia. To me, that’s enough to make up for his sociopathic tendencies.
