Eagles enter training camp with one big ‘dilemma’ on their hands
The Eagles are riding high off a Super Bowl win and a dominant playoff run, but there’s one position group that still has fans and analysts raising eyebrows — and not in a good way.
According to FanSided’s Ryan Heckman, the Birds have a full-blown dilemma on their hands heading into training camp. And while that may sound dramatic, he’s not entirely wrong. The Eagles’ pass rush, which was once a cornerstone of their defensive identity, is suddenly looking thin. Real thin.
Let’s just call it like it is: losing Josh Sweat to the Arizona Cardinals hurts. It wasn’t unexpected, but the response from Howie Roseman so far has been… underwhelming. Sure, he brought in Azeez Ojulari, a former second-round pick with a flash or two on his resume, but even Giants fans weren’t exactly mourning his exit. Ojulari’s got upside, but he’s not moving the needle on his own.
Eagles Must Find Answers on the Edge
If the Eagles want to keep steamrolling the NFC like they did last season, they’ll need more than just vibes and a shaky edge group. The interior is still strong, and there’s enough versatility across the front seven to mix and match, but let’s not pretend that’s enough.
So where’s the help? Guys like Matthew Judon are still on the market. And if last year’s surprise move for Jahan Dotson taught us anything, it’s that Roseman doesn’t mind waiting to strike when everyone else is sleeping.
There’s time. There’s cap room. And there are still plenty of free agents who can come in and make a difference. But the longer the Eagles wait, the more this situation starts to look less like a quiet concern and more like a real weakness.
And let’s be honest: we’ve seen how quickly injuries can turn “we’re fine” into “oh no” when it comes to depth on the edge.
Don’t Panic Yet—But Don’t Ignore It Either
Calling it a dilemma might be strong. But ignoring it completely would be worse. The Eagles are in a prime position to go back-to-back — and maybe even launch the dynasty we’ve all been waiting for. That doesn’t happen without a disruptive, relentless pass rush.
So yeah, the roster’s still loaded. The vibes are still immaculate. But if there’s one box left unchecked before camp, it’s on the edge.
And you can bet opposing QBs are hoping it stays that way.
