Eagles wipe the floor at 2025 ESPYs, proving once again they’re one of the greatest teams ever
The 2025 ESPY Awards aired Wednesday night, and the Philadelphia Eagles walked in like they owned the place — because they do. Fresh off one of the most dominant Super Bowl runs in NFL history, the Birds put an exclamation point on their year by absolutely cleaning house.
And if you thought ESPN was going to fumble the bag like usual, think again. They actually let Shane Gillis — A PA native and diehard Eagles fan — host the show, and the man brought the house down.
Let’s run through the highlights.
🚨BREAKING: #EAGLES RB SAQUON BARKLEY HAS WON THE ESPY AWARD FOR THE “BEST PLAY” WITH HIS ICONIC BACKWARDS HURDLE.

It didn’t take long for the Birds to get on the board.
Saquon Barkley kicked off the night by winning the ESPY for “Best Play” after his absurd Week 9 reverse-hurdle touchdown against Jacksonville — a play that basically broke the Internet and sent every cornerback in the league into therapy.
Unfortunately, Barkley couldn’t make it to the show, but Jordan Mailata accepted the award on his behalf and delivered an all-time quote:
“If Saquon was here, he’d tell you this wasn’t a ‘Best Play’ thing. This was a ‘Best Team’ thing. That’s just who we are.”
Mailata could’ve dropped the mic right there. That one moment told you everything you need to know about this squad.
Saquon Doubles Up with “Best NFL Player”
As if one trophy wasn’t enough, Barkley also took home the ESPY for “Best NFL Player.” That’s right — not Mahomes. Not CMC. Not Lamar. Saquon Freakin’ Barkley. And he did it in his first season in midnight green.
Eagles Named “Best Team” — duh
The final and most important award of the night went to your 2025 Super Bowl Champions: the Philadelphia Eagles. They were crowned “Best Team” at the ESPYs, and rightfully so.
Head coach Nick Sirianni, flexed his Super Bowl ring before taking the stage with several Eagles players and had this to say:

What a night. Say whatever you want, but this proves my point that the 2024-25 Philadelphia Eagles are one of the greatest teams in NFL history. And they are set up so well that we feel real good here in Philly about going back to the Super Bowl.
Just ask ESPY’s host, Shane Gillis. Our roster construction is still phenomenal and the tush push is returning. Which funny enough, that play actually had an ESPY’s skit last night.

Imagine that — a team that absolutely dismantled the Kansas City Chiefs, made Patrick Mahomes look the worst he’s ever looked, left Andy Reid searching for answers, and slammed the door shut on a Chiefs three-peat. And to top it all off, they ran a football play so unstoppable that teams, players, and fans are begging the league to ban it.
The Philadelphia Eagles are really, really freakin good. Go Birds.
