Eagles Buzz: Former Cowboys WR backs Jalen Hurts against unfair criticism

It’s not every day Eagles fans find themselves nodding in agreement with a former Dallas Cowboy, but here we are. Dez Bryant just said what Birds fans have been screaming from the rooftops for two years: Jalen Hurts is a top-5 quarterback in the NFL, and anyone saying otherwise isn’t paying attention.

Bryant took to X to back up Cam Newton’s take on Hurts being snubbed from a recent top-10 QB list, and he didn’t just offer mild praise. He went all in. Dez said Hurts has “mastered how to operate the talent around him,” that the NFL is looking for Hurts-types now, and that Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith are all thriving because of Hurts’ dual-threat presence.

Eagles QB Still Fighting National Disrespect

The Eagles signal-caller continues to be a punching bag for lazy narratives, like he’s just handing the ball off to Barkley or tossing up prayers to wide-open receivers. Never mind the fact that Hurts is diagnosing defenses at the line, calling his own protections, and avoiding turnovers better than most so-called “elite” QBs.

Last season? Five interceptions. That’s it. And while ESPN execs are busy ranking guys with big arms and no rings above him, Hurts is sitting with a Super Bowl MVP, two Pro Bowls, an All-Pro nod, and a Lombardi Trophy. But sure, let’s keep pretending he’s a system guy.

Eagles Fans Know What They’ve Got

We’ve seen it before — McNabb never got his due, and now the same thing is happening with Hurts. But this fanbase doesn’t need validation from talking heads or preseason rankings. If Dez Bryant, an actual Cowboy, can recognize Hurts’ greatness, what’s everyone else’s excuse?

Say what you want, but the Eagles have their guy. And the rest of the league can keep missing the point while Philly keeps stacking wins.
