Bad Look: Selling Eagles’ Training Camp tickets at a 5x markup when all proceeds were initially going to charity
If you’re flipping Eagles training camp tickets for profit, you might be legally allowed to walk around in public, but you’re morally one step above the rats in the SEPTA concourse chewing on Popeyes leftovers.
As of Wednesday afternoon, there were seven listings on StubHub, three more on Vivid Seats, and even a stray one on TickPick, with Ticketmaster now showing the event as “sold out.”
Bad Look: Selling Eagles’ Training Camp tickets at a 5x markup
These are $10 tickets, Birds fans… for charity
Sure, some might hit the $40 mark if you are doing the VIP on-field experience, but even then, every single penny from these sales goes straight to the Eagles Autism Foundation.
That’s the whole point of the event even costing money in the first place.
While you technically “own” the ticket and can do whatever your black little heart desires, scalping these things at a 5x markup makes you look like an asshole.
Look, I get it.
The Eagles are Super Bowl Champions and that this fanbase wants to watch them play. The regular season is too expensive and training camp tickets, even at a 5x markup, is the most affordable route to take.
The Eagles only have ONE open practice during training camp. There are teams across the NFL holding their own Fan Fests for training camp. We’re blacked out and have one shot to watch the Eagles play before the season begins.
Some people live and breathe the Eagles and actually care about training camp.
Families look at it as an opportunity to get a night out at a rare, affordable price. The Eagles look at it as the perfect opportunity to raise money for Charity. Fans selling training camp tickets at a 5x markup probably need some extra cash.
All of that is totally understandable and each present a unique situation.
Personally, I refuse to allow the NFL turn my entire calendar into one football season. I just ignore all the Training Camp Takeaways and meaningless stats. I won’t even watch the preseason, but I’ll be locked in and ready to go Week 1 when the Birds take the field against the Cowboys in South Philly.
Your choice. Your tickets. Do whatever you want.
There’s only one scenario above that actually makes you look like an asshole and that’s the one where you’re selling training camp tickets, intended to raise money for charity, at a 5x markup on a shitty second-market ticket website.
It’s always better to spend your money and gear up for the regular season with TLL >>
