Lane Johnson is sick of Nick Sirianni’s basketball player quotes and honestly, same
Lane Johnson hopped on Bussin’ With The Boys this week and told everyone that he’s completely over Nick Sirianni’s obsession with dropping basketball player quotes in team meetings.
Lane Johnson: “Im not dribbling no ball, brother”
Yes, that’s the most “Football Guy” / Offensive Lineman quote, maybe in the history of the NFL and I absolutely love it.
No shot you can blame Lane Johnson.
We’re rolling into year 13 with the Birds. He’s a 2x Super Bowl champion and on a fast track to Canton. He has seen and heard it all. There’s no type of motivational speech that could actually Pave the Lane.
Obviously, when Sirianni is trying to implement Kobe Bryant’s Mamba Mentality after breaking down an hour straight of defensive line stunts, it’s easy to understand why they don’t work on a guy like Lane Johnson.
To be clear, Lane Johnson doesn’t seem to care that Sirianni has a notebook filled with quotes. He’s just an offensive lineman and bonafide, grizzled NFL vet that doesn’t give a shit about basketball.
Why would he?
It’s not like any of these NBA players are even relatable to NFL guys. Tyrese Maxey would be flattened into dust if he stepped foot on a football field.
If someone pokes LeBron James in the eye, he acts like he was just blinded for life. These athletes are not the same in any aspect, so why not just focus on some words of wisdom from actual football players, Nick?
If I was Nick Sirianni, I would ditch the entire schtick
Truthfully, Sirianni should just drop the quotes in general. We have too many kooks in the kitchen already, if you know what I mean.
We already have Jalen Hurts speaking in poems like he’s Edgar Allen Poe. AJ Brown spends his free time explaining flat earth theories to the rats on social media. Cooper DeJean has every female in the Tri-State area DMing him.
Landon Dickerson literally just had surgery and is walking around the NovaCare Complex handing out Miller Lites to players and staff members. God knows what Big Dom is doing when people aren’t watching and don’t even get me started on Jalen Carter and the rest of Birds’ defense.
Point being, we’re all set on any new additions to the Rat Pack. Lane Johnson isn’t interested in it and again, that makes sense after 13 years of dominance in the NFL.
Sirianni’s Basketball Thing is… a Thing
Look, I get it. Hoops culture is cool but for a guy from a football family who played college ball, Sirianni treats basketball like it’s the holy book of leadership. It’s has to stop. It’s probably better to just stick to shit like this. Sirianni can cook when he’s locked in. Anything outside of that, just chill out brother.
