Rumor: Eagles working the phones to land All-Pro Bengals pass rusher

As usual, Howie Roseman and the Eagles are being tied to the biggest name on the trade block.

Over the weekend, the Bengals gave All-Pro pass rusher Trey Hendrickson the green light to seek a trade. Their reported asking price? A first-round pick plus a young defensive player. The Eagles have plenty of both right now, but the real question is: should they even consider giving any of it up?

The Birds have been linked to Hendrickson all offseason. It’s no secret Howie loves pass rushers, and Hendrickson is one of the best in the game. In four years with Cincy, the 30-year-old defensive end has piled up 57 sacks (an average of 14 per season), 52 tackles for loss, and 112 QB hits.

Trading for a 30-year-old vet would run counter to everything Howie’s done this offseason. And honestly, pass rusher isn’t even a weak spot right now. That said, stacking talent along the defensive line has always been an Eagles staple. Still, there are bigger holes to plug.

We’ll see how this plays out. My bet? Hendrickson ends up somewhere else, but I wouldn’t count on it being in Philly.
