Eagles News: Vic Fangio confirms Cooper DeJean will get reps at outside corner
Before Monday’s practice, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio confirmed what most fans already suspected this offseason — Cooper DeJean will see some snaps at outside corner.
Eagles seeing what they have in DeJean
Is this the perfect scenario? Not really. DeJean was playing at an All-Pro level as a rookie, and most of his snaps came at nickel. But you can’t blame Fangio for testing this out. DeJean played outside corner in college and he’s easily one of the most versatile defensive backs in the league.
Still, this move says more about the Eagles’ lack of proven talent at outside corner beyond Quinyon Mitchell. My guess is Jakorian Bennett ends up as CB2 by Week 1, but let’s be real, he just got here last week. Only time will tell.
This could also just be a practice experiment so Fangio and his staff can see what they’ve got in DeJean. In the NFL, you’ve got to prepare for every possibility — and nobody does that better than the Eagles.
