Caitlin Clark

The Caitlin Clark injury update you all have been waiting for

The Dog Days are tough on all sports fans. We’re still a few weeks out from football returning and here in Philly, the only thing we have to focus on is The Fightins. They’ve been great, but here I am, a man on his own island, awaiting the latest update on Caitlin Clark to hit the timeline.

For those who actually tune into the WNBA to watch the face of the league play basketball, we did in fact receive an update today on Caitlin Clark. Unfortunately, it was just a load of bullshit that reminded me of Nick Nurse “updating” us on Joel Embiid last week.

We got nothing. I know I lied to you with the headline but times are tough and I need clicks. Anyways, here’s what we’re working with right now.

The Caitlin Clark Update

Damn. Even as I’m writing this, I’m disappointed with myself, Caitlin Clark, and mainly Stephanie White for giving us absolutely nothing. If Caitlin Clark isn’t on the floor, most of America isn’t watching the WNBA.

I only tune into the WNBA for Clark, and so does about 95% of the country. That’s just the reality of the league right now and unfortunately, she hasn’t suited up since July 15th after hitting the bench with a groin injury.

We’re in the midst of 13-straight games on the sideline. The league’s Rookie of the Year has only seen the court in 13 out of Indiana’s 35 games this season. It feels like every time she finally gets going, another injury sets her back. It’s brutal, man.

When she’s on the court, the numbers are undeniable:

  • 16.5 points per game
  • 8.8 assists per game
  • 5 rebounds per game

Those are all-time great stats for a second-year player, and she’s carrying a franchise that’s seen its backcourt completely implode. Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson, and Sophie Cunningham are all done for the year. Caitlin Clark was the last hope and now even that’s on ice.

Caitlin Clark’s 2025 Timeline: Stop-Start, Stop-Start

Here’s how her season has gone:

  • May 3: Misses preseason opener with leg soreness.
  • May 24: Injures left quad vs. Liberty. Out for five games.
  • June 14: Comes back and drops 32 points, 9 assists, 8 boards on the Liberty. Looked unstoppable.
  • June 26: Hurt again, this time left groin. Out 15 days.
  • July 9: Returns.
  • July 15: Injures right groin. Hasn’t played since.

It’s been a constant cycle of hope followed by disappointment. Every time we think we’re about to witness her takeover moment, something goes wrong.

What Now for Clark and the Fever?

Stephanie White has made it clear that Clark won’t play until she’s practicing full speed. With only nine regular-season games left, time is running out. Indiana is 19-16 and fighting for playoff positioning, but without Clark, they’re just another middle-of-the-pack WNBA team. Caitlin Clark is the WNBA right now. Without her, this season feels like it never even happened.
