Eagles pull off hat trick of trades, send Darian Kinnard to Packers

The Eagles weren’t done wheeling and dealing today. After two earlier moves shook up the roster, Howie Roseman went back to the trade machine one more time, shipping offensive tackle Darian Kinnard to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick.

That makes it three trades in one day for the Birds, and yet another reminder that this front office never sleeps.

Eagles Keep Shuffling the Trenches

If you lost count, here’s the rundown: The Eagles first swung a deal to bring back Fred Johnson, a familiar face who provides veteran depth at swing tackle. Then they turned around and cleared room by moving Kinnard, a 25-year-old who, get this, is already a three-time Super Bowl champion.

The Eagles essentially flipped a depth piece for future draft capital while upgrading the reliability of their offensive line rotation. Classic Howie.

When you stack that move next to the Sam Howell deal, the message is crystal clear: the Eagles are prioritizing depth and flexibility at the two most important spots in football — quarterback and offensive line. Injuries hit hard last season, and the Birds aren’t taking any chances this time around.

Kinnard’s résumé is impressive for a guy his age, but Fred Johnson is the steadier option for Jeff Stoutland’s room. With Johnson back in midnight green, the Eagles lock down a tackle who already knows the system, while pocketing a sixth-round pick for their trouble. That’s just smart business.

We’ve seen this script before: Roseman identifies a soft spot on the depth chart, plugs it with a low-risk, high-reward veteran, and somehow comes away with more picks in his back pocket. It doesn’t matter if it’s August or November, if the Eagles can squeeze value out of a move, they’ll do it.

Three trades in a single day isn’t just roster shuffling. It’s a reminder that this team is going all-in to protect Jalen Hurts and set themselves up for another run at the Lombardi. And if history is any indicator, today won’t be the last time Roseman catches the rest of the league napping.
