Eagles Howie Roseman Beer Can to the Head

Eagles shuffle the 53-man roster, bring back Charley Hughlett and add Willie Lampkin

Not even a week after finalizing their initial 53-man roster, the Eagles are already shuffling the deck.

On Wednesday, the team cut ties with OL Trevor Keegan and S Tristin McCollum while adding veteran long snapper Charley Hughlett and rookie center Willie Lampkin off waivers from the Rams.

The New Guys

  • Willie Lampkin (C): Undrafted out of North Carolina, Lampkin battled knee and ankle issues this preseason with the Rams before getting waived. At 5’11”, 279 pounds, he joins the NFL’s deepest offensive line room and gets the best possible tutor in Jeff Stoutland. Development project, but a worthwhile one.
  • Charley Hughlett (LS): Signed this summer but cut on final roster day, Hughlett is back after recovering from a camp neck injury. He slides into the specialist trio with Jake Elliott and Braden Mann.

Who’s Out

  • Trevor Keegan (OL): Fifth-round pick in 2024, Keegan played just 35 snaps as a rookie. He showed some versatility in camp, so a practice squad return feels likely if he clears waivers.
  • Tristin McCollum (S): Played 14 games last year with over 450 combined snaps on defense and special teams. Fangio reportedly liked him, but numbers at safety worked against him. Could resurface on the practice squad too.

Here’s the Philadelphia Eagles ‘Initial’ 53-Man Roster

Eagles Injuries & Practice Notes

Some good news: A.J. Brown (hamstring) and Landon Dickerson (knee) were both back at practice in some capacity. With the opener looming, that’s a huge sigh of relief. Rookie safety Drew Mukuba (hamstring), however, remained sidelined. QB Tanner McKee was spotted wearing a splint on his injured throwing thumb.

The Eagles announced a wave of Practice Squad signings:

  • LB Chance Campbell
  • WR Elijah Cooks
  • G Kenyon Green
  • TE E.J. Jenkins
  • CB Brandon Johnson
  • OLB Patrick Johnson
  • TE Cameron Latu
  • WR Terrace Marshall
  • QB Kyle McCord
  • CB Parry Nickerson
  • T Hollin Pierce
  • OLB Antwaun Powell-Ryland
  • CB Eli Ricks

That leaves three open spots, plus one reserved for an International Pathway Player. The surprise was Chance Campbell, who signed just before the preseason finale. Many expected Dallas Gant or Lance Dixon to get looks, but Dixon’s injury shut that door.

This is just classic Howie Roseman. The roster is always a work in progress. Keegan and McCollum might circle back on the practice squad, but for now, the Eagles add depth at center and bring back a veteran long snapper. More tweaks are coming, and with three PS spots left, the churn is far from over.
