Reverse Uno: Chiefs fans say Eagles get NFL favoritism on Jalen Carter despite 8 years of Chiefs Privilege

When the chips are down, the real rats come out. Kansas City Chiefs fandom is experiencing this right now, even though we’re just one week into the 2025 season.

They’re 0-1 and if they lose on Sunday to the Eagles, it will be the first time Patrick Mahomes has ever lost three-straight games. The horror.

Trying to soften the inevitable blow coming Sunday, a chunk of Chiefs fans are already crying NFL favoritism for the Eagles. After Jalen Carter’s verdict was revealed Tuesday — $57K fine, no further suspension — the KC faithful threw a fit.

The most disingenuous argument involves Rashee Rice, the Chiefs wideout who’s in the middle of a six-game suspension for a high-speed crash that injured multiple people back in March 2024. The claim: Rice technically served his suspension last season while he was injured.

I’d like to think this is just a bit, but I’ve been around enough NFL fans to know some of them are dumber than a box of rocks.

For starters, the NFL shouldn’t have said that Carter’s ejection counted as the one-game suspension. They gaslit KC with that and made this whole narrative possible. Secondly, spitting on another player has never been an offense worthy of suspension.

Sean Taylor spit on Tampa RB Michael Pittman in a 2006 playoff game, fined with no suspension. Terrell Owens did the same thing, fined with no suspension. Marcus Peters spit on Jarvis Landry in 2020, fined with no suspension. Suspending Carter would have been overkill and frankly should have never been on the table.

Bringing it back to the Chiefs: Rice missed games because he was injured. That’s it. He wasn’t tossed out, and the NFL didn’t hand down any discipline until a few weeks ago. Jalen Carter, on the other hand, was ejected and missed the entire game because of it, not because of an injury. This is basic stuff.

And yet the nerve of these KC rats to cry favoritism is incredible. As if the Chiefs haven’t been bathing in Chiefs Privilege since Patrick Mahomes showed up. There’s an eight-year laundry list of blatant breaks going your way. Now, because your team has to line up against the guy who embarrassed your quarterback in Super Bowl LIX, you’re pointing fingers? Please. Grow up.

I had respect for KC fans before this. Now it’s all thrown out the window. Can’t wait for Sunday.
