From tormenting the Mets to sparking the Phillies, Harrison Bader is doing it all right now
The Philadelphia Phillies are spending their time burying the New York Mets in the NL East race this week down in South Philly. Last night was the latest nail in the coffin, thanks to a red hot Harrison Bader, Schwarbomb No. 50, and a Ranger Suarez Masterclass.
Kyle Schwarber hits 50th home run, Suárez shoves as Phillies destroy the Mets 9-3
The Phillies won for the second-straight night against the Mets, winning 9-3 to put a stranglehold on the East, which they now lead by 9 games.
Phillies are basically locked in to win the East:

Kyle Schwarber joins Ryan Howard in Phillies’ 50-HR Club
Phillies Magic Numbers:
- Postseason: 7
- National League East: 9
- First Round BYE: 14
All of that is great, don’t get me wrong, but this is about Harrison Bader
Since arriving from Minnesota at the deadline, all he’s done is torch New York like it’s a personal hobby. Check the game log just from his last five against the Mets:
- Aug. 25: 1-3, walk
- Aug. 26: 3-4, HR, double, 2 RBI, run
- Aug. 27: 0-3
- Sept. 8: 3-4
- Sept. 9: 3-5, HR, 2 RBI, 2 runs
Harrison Bader is ELECTRIC
That’s 10-for-19 with two bombs and four RBI in his last five meetings. Add in the two games he played against New York while still with the Twins earlier this year (5-for-7 with 2 RBI), and Bader’s basically hitting like Babe Ruth in Mets-only mode.
The career splits back it up.
Across 32 games vs. the Mets, Bader is slashing .346/.378/.529 with a .907 OPS. He’s racked up 36 hits, 13 RBI, and eight stolen bases against them, the third-most bags he’s swiped against any team.
Surprise, Surprise, I was right while everyone said I was stupid
Honestly, it’s fine. I’m used to random, faceless accounts on social media questioning my elite baseball knowledge. It always ends the same way.
Harrison Bader has been a force since landing in Philly. He’s batting over .320 with 12 extra-base hits and 13 RBI in 33 games with the Phillies. Bader has stabilized the outfield, given the lineup a spark with Trea Turner on the shelf, and casually reminded Mets fans why they can’t stand seeing him across the diamond.
So yeah, Schwarber’s bombs and Suárez’s strikeouts are grabbing the headlines but Harrison Bader deserves his shine. Plus, there’s no easier way to win over a fanbase than to absolutely torment the New York Mets. Ask Chase Utley, Pat Burrell, and Rhys Hoskins, they know.
