Stephen A. Smith makes wild Donald Trump accusation in regards to the NBA gambling scandal

Hours after the FBI dropped a bombshell that Chauncey Billups and Terry Rozier were allegedly tied up in some illegal NBA gambling operation, Stephen A. Smith decided to grab his cape, run to the nearest ESPN camera, and — for reasons known only to him — blame Donald Trump.

Stephen A. Smith’s Donald Trump theory in relation to the NBA Gambling Scandal

We went from Terry Rozier placing bets to Bad Bunny and ICE at the Super Bowl in about 14 seconds. That’s a world record for mental gymnastics. Which, even for Stephen A. Smith is impressive.

Here’s the thing — there’s zero evidence Trump has anything to do with any of this. None. Nada. The investigation started long before he even sniffed the White House again.

Stephen A. Smith is a shapeshifter depending on what network he’s on:

  • Conservative on talk radio
  • Liberal on The View
  • “Independent” on Bill Maher
  • Rage baiter on First Take

It’s honestly impressive. He’s playing 4D chess with his public image, and somehow everyone keeps falling for it.

I will say this, Stephen A. Smith is a Hall of Fame talker. No one fills a segment like he does. He’s entertaining. He’s animated. He’s passionate.

But if you’re connecting Donald Trump’s Atlantic City casinos to Chauncey Billups’ bookie habits? That’s not commentary — that’s fan fiction.

At this point, he’s not even debating sports anymore. Which is a big reason why people have turned away from ESPN over the years. Need I say more?

At The End Of The Day

We’re all tuned in because we love sports — plain and simple. When we flip on ESPN to hear about this NBA gambling mess, we’re not looking for a political monologue or a half-baked think piece. We just want sports talk
