Quinyon Mitchell Dance Eagles Packers

Quinyon Mitchell quietly locks down any WR he faces, while continuing to be an absolute menace when celebrating with the Eagles defense

The Eagles’ defense has been lights out over the past few weeks and Quinyon Mitchell is a big reason why.

Through Week 10, Mitchell has allowed just 25 receptions on 55 targets. Opposing quarterbacks have a passer rating of only 60.3 when throwing his way, and he’s holding receivers to a 45.5 percent completion rate. Among cornerbacks with at least 500 defensive snaps this season, no one has been better.

Quinyon Mitchell is not just a “solid rookie” anymore.

He’s playing like a veteran, first-team All-Pro cornerback.

Heading into last night’s Monday Night Football matchup against the Green Bay Packers, Mitchell was allowing a 49 percent completion percentage on the season, which ranked second in the entire NFL in average separation allowed when targeted, trailing only Patrick Surtain II.

That’s elite company and a number that almost certainly dropped after last night’s performance. Against the Packers, Mitchell once again made life miserable for anyone lined up across from him. He was targeted seven times and gave up just two catches for 24 yards. Jordan Love’s passer rating when throwing in his direction was 41.4.

That’s not a typo. Forty-one point four.

Mitchell’s physicality at the line, paired with his recovery speed and awareness in zone coverage, has made him a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks. He rarely bites on double moves, he tackles cleanly in space, and he’s quickly becoming one of the most dependable corners in football.

All-Pro coverage from Quinyon Mitchell

All that is incredible but I still can’t get over what happens after the whistle when Quinyon Mitchell is out there celebrating with the rest of the Eagles defense.

I honestly have no idea what’s going on in Mitchell’s head. Not that it matters, I absolutely love it, but can anyone explain what this was about?

Quinyon Mitchell? (lol)

It wasn’t just last night either. Pretty much all last year while the team was breaking out team celebrations, Quinyon Mitchell was operating solo on Q-Island.
