Eagles NFC Playoff Picture No. 1 Seed

NFC Playoffs: Eagles in control of No. 1 seed with 8 games remaining

The Philadelphia Eagles are still sitting on top of the NFC after grinding out a 10-7 win over the Green Bay Packers on Monday night. With eight games left in the regular season, Philadelphia controls its path to the No. 1 seed and the coveted first-round bye.

If the Eagles win out, they will lock up home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. Even if they drop a game or two, they are in a strong position to keep that top spot.

Eagles Hold Key Tiebreakers

Philadelphia already owns head-to-head tiebreakers over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Rams, and Green Bay Packers.

The Packers’ tie earlier this season makes it unlikely that the teams will finish with identical records, but those tiebreakers could still matter as the playoff picture tightens.

The Eagles also have an important edge over the Seattle Seahawks. They currently hold a better conference record at 6-1 compared to Seattle’s 4-2. That advantage could come into play since the teams do not face each other this season.

The Rams and Seahawks are both 7-2 and remain the biggest threats for the top seed. The good news for the Eagles is that both teams have tough slates ahead.

Los Angeles has the sixth-hardest remaining schedule while Seattle has the seventh-hardest. They also play each other twice, including a massive Week 11 matchup that will likely help determine who keeps pace with Philadelphia.

Lions Matchup Could Shape NFC

The Eagles will host the Detroit Lions this weekend in one of the biggest games of the NFC season so far. The Lions sit at 6-3 and are fighting to stay in the mix for the top seed.If Philadelphia beats Detroit, they will add another head-to-head tiebreaker and strengthen their hold on the No. 1 spot.

The Eagles and Chicago Bears have formed an unstoppable alliance

NFC East Repeat Within Reach

Philadelphia is also closing in on something that has not happened since 2004 by winning back-to-back NFC East titles. Their magic number to clinch the division is five, meaning any combination of Eagles wins and Cowboys losses that adds up to five would seal it.

If the Eagles beat the Lions and Cowboys over the next two weeks, and Dallas loses both to Las Vegas and Philadelphia, the division could be clinched by Week 13.

That scenario would only need a Cowboys loss to the Chiefs on Thanksgiving or an Eagles win over the Bears on Black Friday to make it official.

Their defense is rounding into elite form and their upcoming schedule gives them a clear opportunity to separate from the pack.
