Eagles’ new Positivity Rabbit might just save the season
On Saturday, Eagles fans were hit with an ultimatum none of us asked for. Either buy into the new Positivity Rabbit hopping around the Birds locker room, or fold like a coward and fire off the classic group-chat text: “season’s over.”
If it wasn’t already obvious from the headline, I’m firmly in the former camp.
The Eagles Positivity Rabbit might just save the season
I get why some of you hate this thing. It feels desperate — like the team is trying to convince themselves the season isn’t completely cooked. And sure, there’s probably some truth to that. But we said the same thing when Nick Sirianni randomly shaved his head last season, and then they lost one game the rest of the way and won the Super Bowl in dominant fashion.
I’m not saying the bunny is going to save the season — I’m just saying there’s a chance.
Football isn’t a perfect science, no matter what the statsexuals tell you. This game runs on emotion and heart — cliché, yes, but still true. Weird shit happens in the NFL all the time, stuff you can’t explain away with NextGen graphs.
Sometimes a group of grown men needs a stupid moment of levity in a city wired for Super Bowl or Bust. At its core, football is a kid’s game. It’s not that serious. The Positivity Bunny reminds everyone of that. That despite the outside noise and the daily doom from local media, the bunny pulls you back into the moment.
Say whatever you want about it. All I know is if this team goes on a run, every household in southeastern Pennsylvania will have a blow-up bunny on the front lawn. And I, for one, can’t wait to get mine.
