Eagles are on a collision course with the No. 3 seed in the NFC Playoffs, unless they completely meltdown down the stretch
Three straight losses puts the Eagles at 8-5 on the season. Even while the sky appears to be falling, the Birds remain in a very strong position to make the playoffs.
Monday night was another wasted opportunity. The Birds could have trimmed their magic number in the NFC East to two. Instead it stays at three after losing to the Chargers in overtime. Here’s what is left for both teams in the division race.

Right now, the Birds look like a team that can win two more games at most, which obviously isn’t what fans want to hear. We are watching the collapse unfold right before our eyes and I know better than anyone that it’s hard to admit it while the team is 8-5 and still in first place in the NFC East.
Looking ahead, the Raiders game looks manageable. One of the Commanders games should be manageable too. That puts them at 10 wins.
If Dallas wins out, the Eagles suddenly need three wins to take the NFC East. The Cowboys still have some landmines on the schedule, but it is not crazy to think they could run the table.
Predicting the Eagles to win anything is an adventure right now.
The defense is keeping them alive. The offense is a loaded diaper. It does not matter who calls plays when the quarterback is turning the ball over and the receivers are dropping touchdowns. They beat themselves more than opponents beat them.
If the Eagles hold the division, they are probably landing on the three line in the NFC. They own the head-to-head over Tampa Bay, which should keep them ahead of the Buccaneers. Catching the Rams or Packers is far less likely.
For anyone still clinging to a path to the one seed, it exists only in math. Not reality.
The three seed is the most realistic landing spot. If the season ended today, the Eagles would host the 49ers in the first round. Does anyone honestly like that matchup right now? It could also be the Bears or Lions depending on how the final month unfolds, but none of those teams feel like automatic wins.
Then again, the Eagles could just keep losing and miss the playoffs entirely. Nothing is off the table after watching this team trip over its own feet for three straight weeks.
Here is the current NFC playoff picture after Week 14.
