AJ Brown trade rumors are back and it’s still stupid

Like clockwork, the national sports media rats are back, desperately clawing for clicks by trying to rile up Eagles fans. This time, it’s the same tired garbage we’ve already lived through once this season with even more AJ Brown trade rumors.

This time, Jeremy Fowler over at ESPN says that he talked to “several executives” that are convinced Howie Roseman is going to pull the trigger and trade AJ Brown in the offseason.

It’s hard not to laugh at this point… lol.

AJ Brown trade rumors (part 100)

Let’s rewind for a second. AJ Brown did not get traded at the deadline. That narrative died on the vine. It was wrong then and it’s wrong now.

Since the Eagles are no longer on a three-game skid and just beat the brakes off the Raiders, the media needs a new angle.

The Jalen Hurts stuff didn’t stick. Hard Knocks exposed what’s actually happening inside the building. So naturally, the next move is to dust off the AJ Brown rumors and pretend something is brewing behind the scenes.

Enter the classic “NFL executives believe…” report. You know the one. Vague sourcing. No accountability. Zero substance. Jeremy Fowler and the ESPN rumor mill firing blanks and hoping Eagles fans bite.

It’s exhausting.

Let’s talk reality for a second. AJ Brown is 28 years old. He’s still firmly in his prime. He’s under contract for roughly $50 million over the next two seasons. This isn’t an aging star on his last legs. This is a cornerstone player. The type of guy you build around, not ship out because some anonymous exec “around the league” is bored.

Yet, here we are.

Apparently, a bunch random “executives” (that probably don’t exist) genuinely believe AJ Brown doesn’t like Philadelphia or that he doesn’t want to play with Jalen Hurts, or that him showing frustration on the sideline means he’s checked out.

It’s like we haven’t all watched AJ Brown dominate over the past 3-4 games while being a great teammate on Hard Knocks every week. Why is it so hard to understand that great players want the ball and want the offense to be better?

AJ Brown wants to win. That’s not a character flaw, it’s leadership. If being competitive is now grounds for trade rumors, then half the league should be on the block.

How do you think CeeDee Lamb feels right now? George Pickens? Putting up numbers for teams that aren’t even sniffing the playoffs. Yes, the Cowboys technically have a pulse, but you get the point.

The media loves to pretend players can only care about one thing. Either winning or stats. Anyone who has ever played sports knows that’s nonsense. Players care about both. They want to win and they want to contribute. They want to feel involved. Especially on a roster loaded with offensive talent like the Eagles.

Here’s the funniest part of all of this. In what’s being framed as a “down year,” AJ Brown is sitting at 840 receiving yards and seven touchdowns with three games left. He’s on the doorstep of yet another 1,000-yard season. That’s the floor.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are on the verge of clinching the NFC East in back-to-back seasons and positioning themselves for another Super Bowl run.

So while the national media will probably float this nonsense a few more times before the season ends, Eagles fans should know exactly what this is. Clickbait. Manufactured drama. Same old song.

Let them talk.

The focus in Philadelphia should be exactly where it belongs: Winning another Super Bowl.
