Official: Eagles hire Sean Mannion to be their next offensive coordinator
It’s official, the Philadelphia Eagles have hired former Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion to be their next offensive coordinator. It was a long, drawn out process, but I think we landed on the right candidate.
Eagles hire Sean Mannion to be OC
Mannion has very little coaching experience. He’s 33 years old, has only been a coach for two years, and has never called plays. Obviously, that’s not the resume anyone was looking for when this process started. However, he’s highly regarded by everyone he’s worked with.
Mannion comes over from Green Bay, where he quickly moved from offensive assistant to quarterbacks coach and worked closely with Jordan Love during a strong stretch of development for the Packers offense.
At 33, Mannion is a young hire, but he brings experience from both sides of the ball as a former NFL quarterback who played under Sean McVay and spent time in multiple systems before moving into coaching. In Green Bay, he earned praise from head coach Matt LaFleur for his preparation and ownership, and he helped develop both Love and backup Malik Willis, who performed well when called upon.
For the Eagles, this hire continues the trend of bringing in younger offensive minds under Nick Sirianni, but it also marks the fifth offensive coordinator in Sirianni’s tenure. The expectation is that Mannion helps stabilize the offense, builds on what already works around Jalen Hurts, and keeps the unit efficient without forcing a full reset.
The move signals the Eagles are betting on upside and quarterback development rather than chasing a big-name coordinator. Now the focus shifts to how quickly Mannion can get comfortable in the role and whether this hire finally gives the offense some long-term continuity.
