Legend: Nakobe Dean reportedly offered a “similar deal” by the Cowboys, signed with the Raiders instead
NFL free agency is in full swing so let’s start with the good news. Before signing with the Raiders, Nakobe Dean was offered a similar deal by the Dallas Cowboys and chose to sign with the Las Vegas instead. A Philadelphia Eagle, even a departing one, looked Jerry Jones in the face and said no thank you. That is a gift and we appreciate it.
While the Eagles didn’t add anything yesterday, they definitely lost a handful of contributors from last year’s roster. On the offensive side of things, Jahan Dotson is heading to Atlanta, while three defensive players found new contracts elsewhere.
The Eagles lost three key defensive players on Monday.
Jaelan Phillips is gone. The pass rusher the Eagles gave up a third-round pick to acquire at last year’s trade deadline, the guy they were reportedly willing to sign for $20-25 million per year, signed with the Carolina Panthers on a four-year, $120 million deal worth $30 million annually.

When Carolina pushed the price to $30 million, Philadelphia apparently was not going there. That is a massive contract and it is hard to blame the Eagles for not matching it. It is also a massive loss for a defense that needed edge rush help heading into 2026.
Nakobe Dean signed with the Raiders for three years and $36 million.
According to Jane Slater, the Cowboys offered Nakobe Dean a similar deal and he turned it down to go to Las Vegas, which, respect the decision to stay away from Jerry Jones but the Raiders are a poverty franchise right now.
That is just the reality of where that organization is. Nakobe Dean deserves better than that but it is his call to make and Eagles fans appreciated it, saying that he gave Philly one last parting gift by avoiding their NFC East rivals.

So long, Reed Blankenship
Reed Blankenship signed with the Houston Texans for three years and $24.75 million. Losing a safety who understands this defense and fits the system is a real blow even if his name does not generate the same headlines as the other two.
Three departures in one day. Phillips, Dean, Blankenship. The Eagles have work to do this week and Howie Roseman needs to find answers at edge rusher in particular. The Jonathan Greenard rumors are out there. The Jalen Carter situation is unresolved.
Howie Roseman will figure it out, but this fanbase would like some guys to really understand the direction this team is going sooner than later.
