Airport Cheesesteaks

Record ‘Longest Line of Cheesesteaks’ at the Philadelphia Airport is still shorter than TSA security lines

Yesterday was National Cheesesteak Day, and organizers decided to celebrate by creating the “Longest Line of Cheesesteaks.” In the Philadelphia Airport, of all places. With the TSA shutdowns causing security lines to queue longer than ever, the event was one of the more tone deaf I’ve seen in a long time.

While these knuckleheads were lining up cheesesteaks in the terminal, weary travelers around the country waited in obscene lines to get through TSA security:

Organizers say they achieved a new Guinness World Record for the longest line of cheesesteak sandwiches, with 1,291 lined up inside the departure hall. The display far surpassed the previous benchmark of 500 sandwiches.

However, in my opinion, the only thing they achieved of note is pissing off the countless travelers who probably saw this ludicrous display. I count myself among the enraged because, while I wasn’t a traveller in the airport, I am nevertheless disgusted.

While I find this whole thing entirely stupid, it’s far from the worst cheesesteak-related crime during my tenure as The Liberty Line‘s Sandwich Commentator. While silly and tone-deaf, the organizers were honest about what it was.

Meanwhile, back in 2021, some numbskulls lined up cheesesteaks and hoagies end to end, spanning three city blocks, and dared to call it a 3 Block Hoagie. I can feel my cortisol spike just thinking about it.

Very real and legitimate journalist. I don't see a loss on the schedule.

  1. Look who’s back. About time you wrote something. You couldn’t write an article while away or share with the people why the long absence and a picture or two from your trip abroad. Regardless, glad you made it back home safely.

    1. My mistake you weren’t abroad. Now that leads to a bigger question, what are you even doing? Thought you were enjoying a nice vacation but no you were just home??? Bruh how else is the people supposed to keep up to date with the latest news? – A disappointed fan

  2. Definitely one of the worst takes you’ve ever had showing again you have no grasp and did zero research. 300 of these cheesesteaks were donated to TSA, so every TSA officer was fed lunch that day. On top of that, TSA lines have not been bad here during the day. So no one was waiting in hours long lines while this event was going on. Go back to writing what you know. Whatever that may be. Cuz this ain’t it.
