Dianna Russini

Vampire: Dianna Russini seemed convinced Vrabel would leave his wife for her, now she may be ready to tell her side

The Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel saga has been quiet for about five minutes, but that was just halftime. As we’ve covered thoroughly on this website, there’s so much to this story that we simply don’t know yet. The implications of it all, what their relationship actually was, the spouses of each and how they’re handling it.

The mystery of the unknown allows the human mind to wander into some pretty wild places. But it appears we may get some clarity on all of this very soon.

Dianna Russini might come out with her side of the story

According to Mike Florio over at ProFootballTalk, there are now hints that Dianna Russini may eventually tell her side of the story. For now, she has stayed mostly silent outside of her original statement to the New York Post and the resignation letter that followed a week later. In both, she denied having the type of relationship with Vrabel that would compromise her objectivity as a reporter.

Since then, the New York Post has kept pushing out more reporting. Photos from March 2020 entered the chat. Vrabel made multiple statements. The whole thing has gone from awkward NFL media rumor to full-blown crisis. And now we wait for Russini.

The most interesting part of the latest update came from Jon “Stugotz” Weiner, who apparently knows more than he is willing to say publicly.

Here is what he said:

“This is her story to share when she feels like sharing it. It is not me. And it is not my obligation to talk to Dianna Russini privately on the phone and then share it with a radio audience that she doesn’t want me to share it with, because it’s not my story to tell. It’s her story to tell on her timeline.”

Well then.

That sure sounds like a guy who knows there is a story sitting in the chamber. Maybe it never gets fired. Maybe it does. Maybe everyone involved signs paperwork, shuts the hell up, and pretends this was all just one big misunderstanding involving reporting, football, playlists, photos, denials, Patriots damage control, and God knows what else.

I also, in my heart of hearts, believe Dianna Russini truly believed they were in love. The Vampire named her first born son after the guy. For all we know, the kid might actually be Vrabel’s. She made a fucking Spotify playlist for him too! You don’t do that for a side piece, I’m sorry. As a complete piece of shit, I know the difference between just fucking and thinking there’s a chance for a relationship.

Russini was all in on Vrabel. Vrabel, technically speaking, was all in on her too, just not the way she was hoping for.

Florio raised the obvious timing question too. If Dianna Russini does talk, when does she do it? Before training camp? Right before Week 1? At some point when Vrabel is trying to install a defense and convince Patriots fans everything is under control?

Imagine finally getting the Patriots job, trying to bring back The Patriot Way, and your biggest opponent might be a podcast appearance from Dianna Russini. Bill Belichick had to worry about Peyton Manning. Vrabel might have to worry about a sit-down interview with a vampire. I wouldn’t wish that fate on my worst enemy.

The game has changed.

The funniest part of all this is that every time it feels like the story is about to die, somebody comes along and hits it with a defibrillator. The Post drops another report. Vrabel says something. A photo surfaces. A media person hints Russini has more to say. Then we all end up back in the same place, staring at the wreckage like idiots waiting for the next car to slam into it.

I said it before and I’ll say it again. This thing feels like it only has one ending. The ending where everyone involved swears they want privacy, then the story gets fully exposed and everyone falls into the abyss. I pray for this day. I yearn for it.

For now, Dianna Russini has the floor whenever she wants it.

If she takes it, good luck to Vrabel, good luck to the Patriots, and good luck to every NFL media person who has been tiptoeing around this thing like there isn’t a flaming pile of bullshit sitting in the middle of the room.

Training camp cannot get here fast enough.

  1. Sports journalist should have their own reality tv shows, no way they’re the only ones behind the scenes having fun.

    1. I’ll be shocked if these guys don’t have their fair share of fun while traveling to away games.
