Labaron Philon says he’s planning to break Alperen Sengun’s ankles this season

Labaron Philon, the Sixers’ 22nd overall pick out of Alabama, sat down for an NBA 2K League interview and was asked which NBA player’s ankles he’s planning to break once he gets into Nick Nurse’s rotation next season.

Yup. That’s our rookie who hasn’t played a single second of professional basketball yet looked into the camera and said “Sengun, for sure” before explaining his reasoning, which is that he’s on TikTok a lot and the videos on there say Sengun “plays like he got a refrigerator on his back.”

A refrigerator on his back. That’s the scouting report the Sixers’ first-round pick is working with heading into his NBA career, a TikTok meme about Alperen Sengun’s lateral movement that Philon apparently internalized deeply enough to cite it as the basis for calling out a two-time All-Star center on a nationally distributed interview before playing a single minute in the league.

I’m not even going to pretend that I know what that means. I just know that Sengun is not even good and Joel Embiid has made it a point to show that every time the Sixers play the Rockets, mainly because of his buddy Furkan Korkmaz saying that Sengun was the best big man he’s ever played with.

Labaron Philon was widely projected as a late lottery pick before falling all the way back to the Sixers at 22. Now the kid hasn’t stepped on an NBA court and he’s already calling his shot on which player’s ankles he’s going to break based on content he consumed on his phone between classes at Alabama.
