Vic Fangio Quinyon Mitchell INT Virgin

WATCH: Vic Fangio calls Quinyon Mitchell a virgin due to his lack of interceptions in the regular season

Vic Fangio is out here keeping it loose in training camp, and he just delivered one of the better coach quotes you’ll hear all summer at the expense of one of his own star players. The Eagles defensive coordinator took a good-natured shot at cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, who despite establishing himself as one of the best corners in the entire NFL, still hasn’t recorded a regular-season interception.

The best part of the whole thing is the sheer volume of “virgin” jokes that immediately flooded the timeline. Too good and obviously, it’s all clearly in good fun.

Vic Fangio Calls Quinyon Mitchell A Regular Season VIRGIN

“He still needs his first INT of his career. He’ll remind you he’s got four in the playoffs, but he’s still a virgin in the regular season”

The Joke Actually Highlights How Good Mitchell Is

Honestly, the reason Quinyon Mitchell doesn’t have a regular-season pick has a lot less to do with his ability and a lot more to do with the fact that he’s so good quarterbacks refuse to throw his way.

When you’re one of the best cover corners in football, opposing offenses simply avoid you. They look elsewhere, they target the other side of the field, and they don’t give you many chances to jump a route and take one to the house. So in a weird way, the “virgin” label is almost a badge of honor. He’s not getting picks because nobody’s brave enough to challenge him.

It’s not like the man doesn’t have the ball skills. He’s got FOUR interceptions in the playoffs, which is where it matters most. Quinyon Mitchell has a knack for coming up huge in the biggest moments, on the biggest stage, which is exactly what you want from a cornerstone corner. He just hasn’t gotten on the board yet when the calendar says regular season, and thankfully Vic Fangio isn’t going to let him forget it.

Let’s Get You on the Board, Quinyon

So the mission for Quinyon Mitchell in 2026 is clear, and it’s got nothing to do with proving he’s elite, because everyone already knows that. It’s about finally snagging that first regular-season pick so Vic Fangio has to find something else to bust his chops about. Get on the board, take one to the house against the Commanders in Week 1, and shut the whole “virgin” bit down for good.

The Eagles kick off September 13 at home against Washington. Plenty of chances for Quinyon Mitchell to lose the label, assuming any quarterback is dumb enough to throw his way.

Based on Fangio’s comments, the whole building is going to be watching for it. That’s just great defense, great coaching, and great trash talk happening at Eagles Training Camp and honestly, that’s a good place to be heading into a season.
