Eagles to make push in coming weeks on Dallas Goedert extension

After weeks of rumors, it looks like Philly could finally be putting pen to paper with tight end Dallas Goedert. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, he feels that the Eagles are waiting for another domino to fall regarding cap space before extending Goedert. Fowler thinks that it’s Texans QB Deshaun Watson, who the Eagles have been consistently linked to.

Despite holding pat right now, Philly is expected to make a push to lock up Dallas in the next few weeks. Dallas Goedert’s extension will be a hefty price that will put his contract amongst the highest at his position in the NFL.

“One league source that deals with the salary cap said Goedert’s per-year average could land somewhere between Travis Kelce’s $14.3 million per year and Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith’s $12.5 million per year.”

That number is very respectable, and it comes as no surprise that he will be bringing home a massive payday. Howie Roseman has been maneuvering cap space over the last few weeks, opening over $14 million in space earlier this month. Several other significant extensions are looming for Philadelphia, including Jordan Mailata, Josh Sweat, Derek Barnett, and several more.
