Fletcher Cox False Alarm

False Alarm? Fletcher Cox posts “Forever Philly” on Instagram 20 minutes before trade deadline

Well no reason to panic I suppose. I’m sure Fletcher Cox is simply just expressing his love for the city of Brotherly Love in a new Instagram post he made roughly 20 minutes before the NFL trade deadline. The Philadelphia Eagles have been quiet all day today. Reports came out earlier that Andre Dillard was unlikely to be moved before the cut off and nothing else has happened. Now we have this post from Fletcher Cox to give us a heart attack for the next 15 minutes? Great.

Reports came out last week that there were teams interested in Fletcher Cox before the deadline, so it’s not completely crazy to think that his new posts are a goodbye to the city where he has played his entire career. I’m sure Eagles fans will have a field day on social media if Cox is traded just two weeks after criticizing Jonathan Gannon and the Eagles defensive scheme. They’ll also be mad if Howie doesn’t do anything at the deadline. You literally can’t win.

Literally as I’m writing this Ian Rapoport shot down my entire post. Thanks Ian, we are trying to run a website over here and an athlete’s instagram update thanking the city he plays for always does well. The media really is just one big social group bullying around blogs who are trying to make it in the industry. Go figure.

Welp, turns out Fletcher Cox was saying “Forever Philly” because he loves the Eagles and the city of Philadelphia. Maybe we were all supposed to take it as a sign that he was NOT going to be traded? False alarm. Enjoy your day, folks. Now we can all go back to being mad at Howie for staying silent at the deadline, rather than trading away one of our franchise cornerstones.

Unless….? Damn I really can’t keep doing this. Now we have Jeff McLane saying that the Eagles have been trying to aggressively trade Fletcher Cox. Another turn in this article. Somebody send help.

Maybe it is possible that Fletcher Cox thought he was going to be moved but instead, no deal was able to get done? Whatever. We will find out in the next 5 minutes before the 4pm deadline. Stay tuned.
