Kacper Przybylko leaving the Union?

In somewhat of a surprise, it appears that Kacper Przybylko could be on his way out of Philadelphia. In a recent interview with a Polish media outlet, Przybylko revealed that he is receiving interest from clubs in Russia, Turkey, and an MLS team. In fact, the Chicago Fire have submitted a transfer offer of around a million dollars and would like to sign him to contract extension as well.
“I would like to accept this offer”

This would certainly be a massive loss for the Union as Przybylko has be the clubs’ leading goal scorer for the last three seasons. Przybylko signed an extension with the Union through 2023, however, he also revealed in the interview that 2023 is an option year.
Przybylko also stated that the Union are making the decision regarding the offer on Monday and there has been no news as of late. Of course, there will and should be interest for Przybylko as he has proven to be a top goal scorer for the Union and in the MLS. It just surprising how fast this news came about.

Przybylko signed with the Union in 2018 and now in 2022, he sits third on the all-time scoring list for the club. Last year he scored 12 goals for the club during the MLS regular season. It is unclear whether this transfer would happen this season or in 2023, but it certainly wouldn’t be ideal to lose two of your best players in Przybylko and Kai Wagner this offseason.
In some good news, the Union signed 2021 MLS Defender of the Year finalist Jack Elliott to a contract extension. This move secures the club as a key piece of their defensive line. The Union start their in-market preseason training this week and will then head down to Clearwater to play in some exhibition matches before the 2022 MLS season.
