Howie Roseman gives update on Jalen Hurts’ status with the Eagles in 2022

GM Howie Roseman and head coach Nick Sirianni held their season-ending press conference following the Eagles’ early exit in the playoffs.
When asked about Jalen Hurts and his first year under center, Roseman told reporters that felt as though Hurts showed enough to be the starter in 2022:
“We talk about Jalen and the growth he had, really first-year starter, second-year player, leading this team to the playoffs — tremendously impressed with his work ethic, his leadership,” Roseman said. “The last time we talked was during camp and we said we wanted to see him take the bull by the horns and he certainly did that.”

Roseman was then asked if that meant Hurts is the starter in 2022; he answered with a confident “yes.”
Hurts finished the season with 3,144 yards passing, 16 TDs with nine interceptions. He also led the Eagles in rushing with 784 yards and 10 TDs. He struggled in the 31-15 loss to Tampa Bay in the Wild Card but showed encouraging progress throughout the year.
Roseman emphasized that building around Hurts is the primary focus this offseason:
Eagles GM Howie Roseman: “We have to do whatever we can to continue to help him (Hurts) develop. How do we do that, by surrounding him with good players."

The Eagles currently hold three first-round picks in the upcoming draft — No. 15, 16, and 19 overall.
Considering their reported interest in Deshaun Watson heading into the season, many speculate if those draft assets will be used to find a new quarterback.
Whether we should believe Howie Roseman or not is another conversation, he did share the same sentiments about Wentz at one point. For now, it seems as though all of the eggs have been placed in Jalen Hurts’ basket.
Sirianni on Jalen Hurts: “there’s no secret about where he stands with us. He knows he’s our guy.”
