Bettor places 1,000 dollars on the Union to win MLS Cup

The MLS season has officially started, and we already have one very optimistic Philadelphia Union fan. A player at BetMGM reportedly threw 1,000 dollars on the Philadelphia Union to win the MLS Cup. At the time, the odds were +1600, meaning that the payout would be a whopping 16 grand. Since then, the odds have dropped down to +1400.
Is a Union future a smart bet?
As they should, the Union are one of the favorites to go all the way this year with a squad full of talent led by the great head coach Jim Curtin. I might not have the units that this bettor does, but I definitely don’t hate the idea of sprinkling on the MLS future. If you have a couple of bucks sitting around, you could throw it on this for potentially little extra cash in a few months. Placing just 10 dollars on this bet could win you 140 dollars.
The Union are coming off a season where many believe they were robbed in the Eastern Conference final due to COVID-19 protocols. They had to start third-string players against a fully healthy NYCFC team and almost beat them to advance to their first-ever MLS Cup. However, this team is not the same as last year’s, as we saw Kacper Przyblko and Jamiro Monteiro leave the club.
Unfortunately, the Union started their 2022 MLS season a little shaky as they tied to Minnesota FC in their home opener. The Union play Saturday afternoon again as they travel to Canada to take on CF Montréal. We will hopefully get to see the debut of Danish striker Mikael Uhre who was acquired in record-breaking fashion. They need to have a strong start playing in a dangerous away environment just like Subaru Park.
