Rumor: Eagles spent “extensive time” with top offensive line prospect

The Philadelphia Eagles appear to be interested in bolstering their offensive line heading into the 2022 season. Yesterday, Tulsa hosted their pro day, and most of the attention was on standout left tackle Tyler Smith.
Smith was projected to be a day-two pick but has now flown up the draft boards and is now expected to be a first-round selection. During his pro day, Smith recorded an insanely fast 10-yard split at 1.68, the same as Lane Johnson during his combine.
Even though he stands at 6’6, the Tulsa LT is so athletic most teams project him as capable of playing guard and then moving out to tackle later on.
According to Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline, Smith spent extensive time with the Eagles and Miami Dolphins yesterday.
During the NFL Combine, Philadelphia also spoke with top OL prospect Tyler Linderbaum.
This means even after knowing Jason Kelce would be back; the Eagles are still interested in adding top talent to their offensive line.
There are numerous teams in need of help in the trenches, and it seems highly doubtful that Smith would fall past the New Orleans Saints at 18. Any draft pick would be in contention for the starting left guard spot held by Isaac Seumalo next season.
If he’s proving to be that good, it will make sense for the Eagles to spend one of their several first-round picks on Smith or Linderbaum since they have three other selections in the first two rounds.
It’s sure to be an exciting week for the Eagles, who have been linked to numerous star free agents ahead of the new league year this Wednesday.
