Report: Eagles were in the running for CB Stephon Gilmore

Another day, another high-profile free agent elects to sign elsewhere.
According to Josina Anderson, the Eagles made a “hard play” for Pro Bowl corner Stephon Gilmore before he signed with the Colts this morning.
In regards to Stephon Gilmore I am told that "Philly made a hard play." Other teams that showed interest included the #Raiders, #Rams and #Bills, per source.

New England traded Gilmore to Carolina last season for a sixth-round pick after contract talks broke down. After starting the 2021 season on the PUP list, Gilmore tallied two interceptions with the Panthers and allowed just a 78.6 passer rating in coverage.
Taking one of the talented defensive backs in the upcoming draft should still be a priority, but Gilmore would’ve sufficed for a year. The former DPOY has totaled 427 tackles, 27 INTs and 116 passes defended in his decorated career.
The Eagles lost Steven Nelson to the Texans in free agency and need a new CB2 across from Darius Slay, who turned 31 in January.
