Eagles release Nate Herbig just one week after signing him to new deal

Just a little over a week after signing him to his RFA tender, the Philadelphia Eagles have released guard Nate Herbig.
According to Mike Garafolo, there had been trade discussions with other teams during the 2022 NFL Draft, but nothing materialized. Based on the wording of the report, it’s likely that Herbig asked for his release after the team drafted Cam Jurgens with their second-round pick.
Herbig’s deal was one-year and worth $2.4 million. Since arriving in Philly, Herbig had been a tremendous guard for the Eagles, filling in for Brandon Brooks, Isaac Seumalo, and Jason Kelce on numerous occasions.
Over ten games last season, Herbig allowed only just one sack and four quarterback hits in 252 passing plays. It’s tough to see the Eagles lose depth on the O-Line, but they should be good between Jurgens, Sua Opeta, and Jack Driscoll.
