Eagles Stats: Jalen Hurts grades out as NFL’s top passer through 4 weeks

He came back down to Earth in Week 4, but Jalen Hurts’ overall development in 2022 has been astounding.
Through the first four weeks, Hurts is amongst the league leaders in every major passing statistic.
- Passing yards: 1120 yards (5th)
- Completion: 66.7% (8th)
- Yards per attempt: 9.1 (1st)
- Passer rating: 99.6 (9th)
Hurts’ tangible improvements have powered the Eagles’ to a 4-0 start — and to the top of PFF’s grading system.
“No offense in the league is more well-rounded than the Eagles’ attack. Not only can they run the ball exceptionally well, but Jalen Hurts has developed enough as a passer to beat teams through the air. Hurts is currently the fourth-highest-graded quarterback in the NFL (80.0), and no quarterback in the league has a higher passing grade (85.7) than him.”

Defenses have been outmatched thus far by Hurts’ dual-threat ability and physical traits that he brings to the position. He’s delivering the ball with precision and has thrown just four check downs on 163 dropbacks, effectively keeping his eyes downfield to find his talented receivers.
Hurts hasn’t been the sole reason behind Philadelphia’s stellar start; each of the Eagles’ four wins have come in different forms. A team can only go as far as their QB takes them, however, and if Hurts remains consistent with this level of play, that could be well into January.
