ESPN Analyst: “Jalen Hurts has surpassed Dak Prescott”

Prior to the 2022 NFL season, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott was widely considered the best quarterback in the NFC East.
Hell, some even had Jalen Hurts ranked 3rd behind new Commanders QB Carson Wentz. Halfway through the season, Hurts has the Eagles 8-0 for the first time in team history while being firmly entrenched in the league MVP conversation.
Hurts’ meteoric rise has captivated media outlets across the nation, including the worldwide leader in sports, ESPN. On a recent episode of Get Up, NFL analyst Bart Scott stated that Jalen Hurts has “surpassed Dak Prescott as a QB.”

“Jalen Hurts has passed him [Dak Prescott]. Jalen Hurts is a better runner; he’s more accurate right now, and he has better weapons on the outside. Jalen Hurts has passed Dak Prescott as far as rankings as a quarterback.”
Through eight weeks, Hurts is near the top of the league in multiple categories:
- Comp. % — 68.2 (6th)
- Passer rating — 107.8 (2nd)
- Passing yards: 2,041 (10th)
- Yards/attempt — 8.5 (2nd)
- INTs: 2
The main critique of Hurts in the offseason was his ability as a true pocket passer. While he brings another element with his legs, Hurts has shown astronomical progression in accuracy, throwing with anticipation and reading what the defense gives him.
Although Prescott didn’t play, the Eagles defeated Dallas earlier in the year 26-17 to remain undefeated. Prescott missed extended time this season due to a thumb injury and has thrown for just 250 yards and two TDs on the year.
Philadelphia will attempt to improve to 9-0 this Monday night vs. Washington on ESPN.
