GREASE THE POLES: Philly PD continues awesome tradition ahead of NFC Championship Game

We knew it was coming, but now it’s finally official. Poles across the City of Brotherly Love will be greased in anticipation of the NFC Championship Game between the Eagles and 49ers.
Grease the Poles – Chris O’Connell tweeted out Philly PD’s announcement “We will be instituting the practice of ‘greasing poles’ as a deterrent for climbing poles and light fixtures”:
LOL.
At this point, greasing the poles isn’t a deterrent so much as it’s an invitation to climb. Every time they put Crisco on a lamppost, a Philadelphian that never considered climbing one is immediately overtaken with a sudden urge to scale the slippery structure.
Of course, the City has to know this never works. It’s simply a tradition at this point, and one I’m glad we continue to honor in this town despite the fact everyone here is aware the exercise is entirely futile.
The poles will be climbed. Beers will be consumed. Legends will be made.
If you need any help getting hype for the game on Sunday (which would be weird but whatever), you should tune in to the latest episode of Grease the Poles. Plus, you simply have to watch the hype video TLL and GTP’s very own Brian Cass put together.
It’s incredible. Enough said.
When the Eagles win, they will be climbed. Grease the poles all you want, it’s happening.
