Career Night: Empire State Building lights up green for Eagles victory, pisses off New Yorkers, and ratios Dave Portnoy on Twitter

Wow. I did not see this coming. The Empire State Building was lit up in green last night after the Eagles beat the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. Surely it was a coincidence, New York would never willfully honor the Eagles using one of its most treasured landmarks, right? Well, wrong.
The Empire State Building confirmed its intent on Twitter:
Of course, New Yorkers were none too happy with the situation, nor should they be. If this happened in Philadelphia, I’d be downright furious.
But that’s what happens when you’re the soulless financial capital of the world. It doesn’t matter what the people want, the almighty dollar runs New York.
The New York Post capitalized on the public outrage with aptly titled headline.

The building lights up for different reasons. I remember one time my college kicked off a fundraising push by paying a stupid amount to light it up in blue.
Also, Dave Portnoy tried to join the dogpile by ripping on the Empire State Building, but the social media manager was too ready for his tweet. He was ethered shortly after with a video of his own making. Poetic.
All good things must come to an end, however. When the Chiefs beat the Bengals to secure a trip to the Super Bowl, the lights changed from green to red, and the outburst of anger receded back into the dull roar of the city that never sleeps.
COWARDS.
