Report: Eagles to hire Sean Desai to be their next defensive coordinator

It’s official. After hosting Sean Desai for a second interview on Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles will hire the Seattle assistant to be their next defensive coordinator.
The team has yet to confirm the hiring, though. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was the one who broke the news, telling reporters his assistant would be leaving for Philadelphia when speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine.
The Eagles have found their new DC
Desai, 39, spent nine years in Chicago learning under Vic Fangio, one of the best defensive minds in the NFL today. He only has one year of defensive coordinator experience under his belt in Chicago. Desai’s unit ranked 22nd in points per game, but they finished inside the top-10 in yards per game (312), passing yards per game (191.6), and sacks (49).
After conducting numerous interview with potential candidates, the Eagles honed in on Desai – likely due to his connections with the area and Fangio. It’ll be exciting to see what new wrinkles he brings to this Eagles defense.
He now joins Brian Johnson as the two new coordinators accompanying Nick Sirianni.
