Bryce Harper exits game vs. Nationals with mid-back spasms in 4th inning

Bryce Harper left the Phillies’ series finale against the Nationals early on Thursday night. The team cited mid-back spasms as the cause, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the team’s immediate future.
Harper’s exit occurred shortly after taking a baseball to the face. A soft grounder from Dom Smith bounced up off of first base, catching Bryce in the face and allowing the runner to reach safely.
Unfortunately for Harper, this past week and change showed signs of him returning to his old self. The power was coming back to his swing and he just looked the most comfortable he’s been all season at the plate.

Bryce Harper’s injury also comes at a critical time for the Phils.
The team currently sits atop the NL Wild Card standings as a result of their run of form in recent weeks. Of course, Harper, as the franchise talisman, was right at the center
Hopefully, this is just a precautionary measure. We know Bryce as tough as nails, so something tells me that’s all it was.
