Baby Trea is officially on the way. Trea Turner officially went on the Phillies paternity list on Tuesday night ahead of the team’s matchup with the San Diego Padres. While the news is incredibly exciting, the timing is nothing short of… interesting.

It looks like Trea Turner and his wife Kristen are expecting their first child exactly 9 months after signing that 11-year, $300 million contract:

In all seriousness, we always love to see stuff like this in Philly. The Fightins are a team loaded with young dads right now, so it’s only fitting we add one more before this big playoff push.

Especially since he’ll be here another decade, it’ll be cool to watch his relationship with his kid grow as the years go on. It may not reach the legendary status of Nick and Liam Castellanos, but that’s an unreasonably high bar for anyone to try and reach.

As long as Trea Turner keeps hitting like this, though, the kid may end up being a legend after all. The prodigal child that led its father to the promised land heading into Red October. Sounds like a hell of a story to me.
