Nick Castellanos hits home run after Phillies fan finds out about personal tragedy in 6th inning

Nick Castellanos has done it again. And, to be honest, it’s starting to get a little scary.

Castellanos hit a bomb minutes after a Phillies fan got a text about someone they know passing away:

castellanos

That text was promptly followed up with a deep shot from Castellanos to take the lead. You couldn’t write a script like this.

Nick Castellanos doesn’t just care about famous deaths anymore. No matter how anonymous you are, if you pass on, odds are Casty is going yard.

Also, the “that sucks” from this guy isn’t exactly the best response one can give. I get it, he’s at the Phillies game and it’s not a great place to express grief or condolences.

One could read it as Cheryl was unwell for quite some time, and this was something people saw coming. Or, you could interpret it as this guy not giving a flying fuck about Cheryl.

The latter is a little callous for my taste, but I wouldn’t have included it if someone hadn’t said that to me when discussing this post.

Regardless of how you read this text, there’s no denying Nick Castellanos is red-hot at the plate.

Castellanos went 2-for-3 from the plate last night with a home run and four RBI as the Phillies beat the New York Mets 5-4.  He now has a career-high in RBI at 103 on the season while batting .364 (12-for-33) with six home runs, 14 RBIs, and a 1.298 OPS over his past 9 games.
