Report: Eagles are scouring the trade block for wide receivers
After watching the Philadelphia Eagles preseason opener against Baltimore last week, it was clear that the WR depth is severely lacking.
Over the weekend, TLL’s own Jake Rabadi reported that the team is making calls around the league, searching for a potential WR3 behind AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith.
As they always do, the Eagles are scouring the trade block

Rabadi also reports that if a trade were to happen, it likely won’t go down until closer to final cutdown day later this month.
There are several names the team could be considering in trade talks, but one that keeps popping up is Houston’s John Metchie III. There have been no talks between Philly and Houston on a potential Metchie trade as of now. Nevertheless, the Eagles liked him coming out of Alabama and he seems like to odd man out in Houston with Stefon Diggs now in the fold.
Metchie missed his rookie season after getting diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia. He came back in 2023 but didn’t make much of an impact, playing just 29 percent of the offensive snaps while hauling in 16 receptions for 158 yards.
It wouldn’t take much to pry Metchie away from Houston, and at just 24 years old, he still has potential to pop given the opportunity. With the Eagles current situation at WR3, this could be the type of opportunity he needs.
