WATCH: Human highlight reel Saquon Barkley leaps over cameraman on Bengals sideline
The Philadelphia Eagles destroyed the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday 37-17 to improve to 5-2 on the season. While Jalen Hurts’ performance caught the attention of NFL fans around the globe, Saquon Barkley continued to dominate in his debut season with the Birds and even made a Top 10 highlight on the sidelines.
Saquon Barkley leaps over cameraman on the sideline
Saquon Barkley faced a tough challenge early on against a Bengals defense that seemed laser-focused on shutting down the run game.
But once the fourth quarter hit, Barkley found his rhythm, helping the Eagles’ four-minute offense wear down Cincinnati and seal the win. Barkley broke the 100-yard mark for the fourth time this season, wrapping up the day with 108 yards on 22 carries.
Kenneth Gainwell, who was a bigger part of the game plan last week, saw limited action this time with just two touches. Ben VanSumeren made a few appearances at fullback, delivering a solid lead block on an 11-yard Barkley run in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, rookie Will Shipley had a potential touchdown wiped off the board due to a Nick Gates holding penalty late in the game.
So far this season, Barkley has logged 766 yards and 6 touchdowns on 130 carries through the first seven games. Barkley’s 766 rushing yards place him second in the league behind Derrick Henry’s 946. He’s also pacing the NFL with four runs of 40+ yards, showcasing his big-play ability.
The Philadelphia Eagles are sitting at 5-2, just one game behind the Washington Commanders in the NFC East race. Next up, they’ll welcome the Jacksonville Jaguars to South Philly this weekend.
