Nick Sirianni gives strong message to Eagles locker room: “Don’t drink perfume”
Okay, that headline was a little disingenuous. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni addressed the team in the latest episode of Unscripted, which is essentially an in-house Hard Knocks following the team week-to-week.
Nick Sirianni delivered a strong message on how to deal with praise while reviewing film of the dominant win against the Giants:
It’s easy to see why the #Eagles players have Nick Sirianni’s back.

“Treat praise like perfume. Smell it. Sniff it. Whatever the f*** you gotta do with it, don’t drink it.” pic.twitter.com/FAMP9bGOYw
It’s a great message, and it wouldn’t be a Sirianni-ism if it didn’t get a little weird at one point. Sure, it’s not on the level of the famous “flower speech” he gave during the first season of his tenure, but it shows he’s got his swagger back when it comes to addressing the team.
The Eagles had been dealing with some serious doubt and vitriol during a slow start to the season. Nick Sirianni preached that they block that out, and now that the team is performing at a high level, he wants them to ignore the praise and just keep pushing too.
I fully understand that the team wouldn’t put out media if it didn’t make the team look good, but it’s clear this message resonated leading up to the game against the Bengals. The Birds didn’t score in the first quarter yet again, but the energy stayed up and they ended up with another dominant performance.
