Patriots fans are still trying to speak an AJ Brown trade into existence

This whole ‘AJ Brown could be traded to the Patriots’ narrative has never made any sense. And for some reason, New England fans are still gaslighting themselves into believing it.

We’ve seen Colin Cowherd spread this narrative several times over the past year — which is nauseating, but he’s a national pundit so ridiculous takes like this kind of come with the territory. As for local pundits, they should know better.

Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports Boston explored New England’s potential moves during a Tuesday appearance on WEEI’s Jones and Keefe show. The veteran reporter dismissed the likelihood of the Patriots acquiring Tee Higgins, DK Metcalf, or Brandon Aiyuk, stating they are “not gonna happen.” However, Curran suggested that Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown remains a viable option.

“AJ Brown is a much more reasonable get. Why would the Eagles divorce themselves from him? I don’t know exactly, but that’s reasonable. I also think that Davante Adams and Chris Godwin are very reasonable,” Curran said.

Brother Curran, you stated — word for word — “Why would the Eagles divorce themselves from him? I don’t know exactly.” Yet, you continue to stand by this claim. Do you know why you don’t know? Because it’s not a real thing. It’s a manufactured story. Media figures love stirring up controversy like this, often because they’ve never set foot in a locker room.

People butt heads in every profession — it’s normal. In fact, if you’re not challenging each other to be better, what are you even doing? Settling for mediocrity. The Eagles won a Super Bowl with this exact mentality, proving it works. But now, suddenly, we’re supposed to believe it’s so problematic that the front office wants to blow it all up? Come on — does that even make sense?

Patriots fans, for your own mental well being, move on from this AJ Brown thing. It’s not going to happen. Not this offseason, not next offseason, not even the offseason after that. He will never suit up for the New England Patriots, end of story.
