Eagles ‘dodged a bullet’ during 2025 NFL Draft

The Eagles made the right call. That’s the latest word out of FanSided, where analyst Christopher Kline just gave Howie Roseman a well-earned pat on the back for steering clear of Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft.

For weeks leading up to the draft, there were whispers that the Eagles might be eyeing Sanders as a potential late-round steal. Some mock drafts even had him landing in Philly as a developmental backup behind Jalen Hurts. Instead, the Eagles played it smart, grabbing Kyle McCord in the sixth and letting Cleveland take the bait.

Now, just a few months later, Sanders is already making headlines for all the wrong reasons — this time for racking up speeding tickets and drawing unnecessary media attention. And while that alone isn’t career-altering, it’s exactly the kind of circus the Eagles didn’t need to invite into their locker room.

Eagles Already Have Their Guy

Let’s not forget, Jalen Hurts is 26 years old, fresh off a Super Bowl win, and locked into a long-term deal. This isn’t a franchise searching for a future QB. This is a franchise with the guy already in place. Bringing in Sanders — a player known as much for his name and media buzz as for his actual tape — never made much sense.

Add in the fact that Philly has built a rock-solid culture with the perfect mix of hungry young talent and seasoned vets, and you start to see why drafting a distraction, even a talented one, could’ve done more harm than good.

Cleveland Can Deal With the Drama

The Browns traded up to grab Sanders in the fifth, reportedly because they believed the Eagles were ready to pounce. Whether that’s true or just smoke, it doesn’t matter now. Philly stayed patient, played the board, and avoided the drama.

Let Cleveland roll those dice. In Philly, we’re focused on championships — not headlines.

Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don’t make. The Eagles understood the assignment. They didn’t fall for the hype, didn’t chase a name, and didn’t invite unnecessary noise into a locker room that just lifted the Lombardi.

Smart teams win in April. Great teams win in February.

The Eagles are aiming for both.
