Eagles Camp: Vic Fangio delivers blunt assessment of newly added CB

Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio had some poignant remarks regarding Adoree Jackson after practice on Tuesday.

Eagles DC doesn’t sound like a fan of Jackson

“I don’t know if I think it’s the place. I think it’s time for him to show that. In Tennessee, when it came time to re-sign him after his contract was up, they didn’t. The Giants, his contract was up, they didn’t. It’s time to show who he is or who he isn’t.

“The first few days out here, he was kind of like he didn’t know he was out there. The ball wasn’t going his way at all, and then yesterday, he had a couple balls thrown his way and he did very well. He had a very good day yesterday. It’s too early to say what his experience is or isn’t right now. He’s played a good bit of ball, but I think this is the place where he’s got to show who he is and be the player hopefully that people have always thought he could be.

“I didn’t watch a whole lot of tape on him. Howie wanted to sign him, and when Howie wants to sign somebody it doesn’t matter what I say. So we just took him in.“

Honestly, there’s no world where I—or any logical Eagles fan—wants to see Adoree Jackson starting opposite Quinyon Mitchell.

We’ve been waiting on a Kelee Ringo breakout for years now. It hasn’t happened. This is his first real shot at a starting job, and after just one week of camp, it already feels like the coaching staff is looking elsewhere. Still early, but not a great sign.

Side note—this quote from Fangio is exactly why he’s perfect for Philly. Eagles fans don’t want sugar-coated BS. We want honesty. Brutal, unfiltered truth. Even if it sounds “mean.”

And it also explains why some players can’t stand Fangio—because he doesn’t coddle anyone. He tells you straight up. You either sack up and get better, or you cry about it. I’m glad the Eagles locker room falls in the former.
