MLB Futures: Where the Phillies currently stand in World Series and Awards Odds before Opening Day

After a miserable, lengthly winter lockout that seemed to last an eternity, Major League Baseball is back and we’re now just a few weeks away from Opening Day.
There were a ton of big free agent moves over the offseason and unless you’ve been living under a rock down by the Schuylkill River, you are well aware that the Phillies acquired Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos in free agency, going over the luxury tax for the first time in franchise history, and giving fans a reason to believe they are contenders for the first time in a decade.

MLB Futures
Baseball betting can be tricky, especially MLB futures bets this early in the season. Baseball is the ultimate marathon sport. I guess that is to say it’s the ultimate marathon sport other than marathons themselves, if you consider running a sport? It’s definitely not, but that’s a conversation for another day.
As of right now the odds on favorite team to win The World Series is The Dodgers at +500. Given their already solid roster and the addition of Freddie Freeman this shouldn’t come as a surprise to any baseball fan. Behind them are The Astros (cheaters) and The Mets at +1000.

Honestly, given a first look at these odds, I’m not really a fan of any of these teams to actually win the World Series this season.
I feel like people have completely written off the San Francisco Giants. Sure they got bounced in the NLDS by the Dodgers but they were a 107 win team. They won the NL West. Another year under NL manager of the Year (and Philly fan favorite) Gabe Kapler and the addition of slugger Joc Pederson may have them positioned to make a serious run.
The current odds for the San Francisco Giants to win the World Series are +2500. It’s March, and people have forgotten or gotten swept up in the hype of the Yankees, Mets, or Dodgers. The Giants could be a great investment opportunity for you Spring Training MLB Futures bet for World Series Champion.
Also, the Phillies are +3000 if you want to bet with your heart.

Bryce Harper checks in with the third best odds to win the National League MVP at +900. With Harper fully protected in a lineup that now consists of Schwarber, Castellanos, Realmuto, and Hoskins, it’s not hard to think that he will be contending for another MVP Award this season.
Other Phillies Listed:
- Nick Castellanos +3000
- Rhys Hoskins +5000
- JT Realmuto +5000
- Jean Segura +10000
National League CY Young

After finishing in second in the NY Cy Young voting last year, Zack Wheeler is listed with the fourth best odds heading in to the 2022 season at +1200.
Given the expected boost in offense from the Phillies this year, I’m hopeful that Wheeler won’t have to pitch so many innings like he did last year and Phils won’t be in so many close games. That should allow Wheeler to not be such a workhorse and the bullpen to takeover games much earlier.
Other Phillies Listed:
- Kyle Gibson +8000
- Ranger Suarez (Dark Hose Candidate IMO) +10000
